Australian Heavy Metal Guitarist Admits Assaulting Teen At Party

May 12, 2009

Australia's ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) reports that Colin Murphy, a 20-year-old heavy metal guitarist, pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting a severely-intoxicated 15-year-old girl at a party at Whyalla early last year.

Adelaide Magistrates Court heard he had performed with his band earlier in the night and drank heavily with the girl at a party.

Two other band members who pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl were sentenced in the District Court in March and given good behavior bonds.

A fourth band member will be sentenced later for the same offense.

Murphy's lawyer told the Magistrates Court the man had shown genuine remorse.

He will be sentenced on Friday.
